History

The concept for Ekata Training Center was originally birthed in 1995 by Sifu Ed Monaghan, and Sifu JoAnn Wabisca, whose combined efforts over the course of 19 years led to the development of a completely new approach to fitness, lifestyle, and living. From their tutelage under Jerry Poteet (one of Bruce Lee's star students that comprised the Jeet Kune Do nucleus of which many consider to hold the most undiluted teachings) to their extensive experience in in the arts and sciences, Sifu Ed and Sifu JoAnn bare a unique skill set - coupled with a great passion for helping others.

Specialties

We specialize in fitness, mindfulness and wellness for the whole family. Our center offers the only state licensed childcare program in Santa Clarita that includes drop off and pick up from schools, enrichment classes and social/emotional learning. Our children's classes incorporate cognitive learning exercises to improve attentiveness and self-regulation. For teens we offer Ekata Sport - a program built to apply mindfulness and physical training tactics for growing bodies and minds. For adults we offer mindfulness, martial arts, personal training and a beautiful full gym. We do not offer Karate or Taekwondo, however, offer complete martial arts and self defense training including Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do, kickboxing, jiujitsu and other forms of MMA. Kids! - If you want your children to be kind, conscious and respectful bring them to Ekata. Teens - Sports, martial arts and mindfulness combine to help teenagers manage difficult emotions during the transitional years. Adults! - If you don't feel comfortable at regular gyms and want a fun training program that works, come to Ekata! We do not offer contests or short term solutions. We believe that modifying behavior to sustain positive lifestyle choices should last a lifetime!
