Founded in 1949, KRON-TV is an independent television station that provides local and national programming. The station was originally an affiliate station of the National Broadcasting Company. It has been independent since 2002. The station serves more than 2 million homes throughout the Bay Area of California. The station is a subsidiary of Young Broadcasting.
