This library has been opened forever. The property matches the picture and the library is incredibly easy to find. The staff is very nice. It is a good place to sit around and read a good book...

History
The Kings Beach Library was started by Mrs. Dorothy O'Brien in the early 1940s. She arranged for books to be sent to her from the Auburn Library every few months. The library was originally located out of Mrs. O'Brien's Kings Beach restaurant. During the 1950s and the 1960s, the library was housed in the office of a resort in Tahoe Vista which was operated by Mr. and Mrs. Burroughs until 1953. In 1953 the resort was purchased by the Potts family who assumed responsibility for the library. In September 1964, the library opened in the Carpenter's Hall, and moved to its current location in 1988.
Specialties
A small library with a big heart, Kings Beach features creekside picnic tables with Wi-Fi access and an extensive collection of items that spotlight the history and terrain of the Lake Tahoe area. The Kings Beach Friends of the Library offer a wide variety of items for sale inside the branch. Had some items I needed to print out for work and they could not do it at the condos we were at so went to the Kings Beach Library. I called first as I understand their hours are kind of strange....
