King Taco # 9

Founded in 1974, King Taco began its journey from a converted ice cream truck, quickly gaining popularity at an East LA bar. Today, it has expanded to 22 locations, offering a wide variety of authentic Mexican food and standing as one of the few surviving original restaurants in Los Angeles.

The restaurant pays homage to its roots with artwork by painter Ricardo Barragan, which celebrates the early days of King Taco. Initially operating as a takeout window in the 1980s, customers enjoyed their tacos right from the hoods of their cars.
