Kern County

The Kern County General Services department provides a range of services to county departments and residents, such as building design and construction, building maintenance and general custodial services, purchasing, real estate, the government television station, franchise administration, telecommunication resources and facilities, mail services and reprographics. The building design and construction unit is responsible for providing cost estimating, design, inspection and administrative support services. The purchasing unit assists all county departments, agencies and special districts with the purchase of supplies, furnishing, equipment and services. The government television station broadcasts important government information, such as board of supervisors meetings, planning commission meetings and real-time election results, and supervises the cable television franchise and the acquisition and utilization of all telecommunications resources and facilities.
