Founded in 1960 as Kermit Dorius and Associates, the firm specialized in the design of residential communities. In 1994, Don Jacobs, John Beck, Eric Zuziak and Gerald Beck purchased the company and changed the name to JBZ Dorius Architecture + Planning. A growth and expansion of the company, as well as the retirement of the original company's founder, Kermit Dorius, prompted the second name change in 1997 to JZMK Partners. The firm designs single and multi-family communities, senior communities and luxury, hillside, golf clubhouse, resort projects and educational projects. The company is based in Irvine, Calif., and maintains a location in Newport Beach, Calif.
