History

In 1953, Norman Kaplan and a group of dedicated volunteers founded Junior Blind (formerly known as the Foundation for the Junior Blind) to provide recreational services for children who were blind or visually impaired. Now, more than 60 years later, we continue serving the blind and visually impaired community while also offering services to people with other physical and cognitive disabilities.

Specialties

Established as the Foundation for the Junior Blind in 1953, Junior Blind's mission is helping children, youth and adults reach their greatest potential. Based in Los Angeles, we offer specialized services for thousands of infants, children, teens and adults at no cost to families. Through programs that offer early intervention, education, recreation, rehabilitation and mental health services, our students learn essential skills to help them maximize their potential and achieve their goals.

The programs they offer are very rewarding to those that do not have sight. My daughter left the live In program with new found independence.
