History
John Tracy Center (JTC) is a leading non-profit organization providing parent-centered services to young children with hearing loss, offering hope, guidance and encouragement. After Spencer and Louise Tracy's infant son, John, was diagnosed with profound hearing loss in 1925, Louise Treadwell Tracy devoted her time and energy to studying how deaf children could be taught to communicate with the hearing and speaking world. Mrs. Tracy responded to a desperate call for help from 12 other mothers of young deaf children by founding John Tracy Center. Since opening our doors in 1943, JTC has helped tens of thousands of children with hearing loss to learn speech, language and hearing skills through parent-centered programs. With today's increasingly sophisticated pediatric hearing aid and implant technologies, JTC's early intervention programs help children, ages 0 to 5, to effectively discriminate speech patterns and develop language and listening skills using the devices.
