JDC Records, established in 1977 by Jim and his late wife Dale Callon, has been a stalwart in the vinyl music scene serving Los Angeles. The name 'JDC' is derived from the founders' initials, embodying Jim's passion for dance music and Dale's ambitious spirit. Starting from humble beginnings selling vinyl at local stores and swap meets, JDC quickly gained momentum as dance music surged in popularity.

Jim Callon, founder of JDC Records, began his musical journey in the 60s as the lead guitarist of 'the Glassfamily Electric Band'. Over the years, Jim transitioned from being a musician to a sound engineer, working with iconic bands like Parliament Funkadelic. The Glass Family Electric Band, with successful hits like “Mr Dj You Know How To Make Me Dance”, continues to perform in Los Angeles, showcasing Jim's enduring musical legacy.

With its roots in the vibrant music culture of the 70s and 80s, JDC Records became a prominent label for electro, disco, and hip hop hits. From its early days of selling vinyl out of a car to establishing distribution centers in Hermosa Beach and now in historic downtown San Pedro, JDC Records has remained a cornerstone of the music scene, reflecting Jim Callon's enduring vision and dedication to quality dance music.
