Janice de Castro, a marketing and communications director-turned-trendsetting pastry chef started JAE NYC EATS as a humble culinary project at home in Rockaway Beach, Queens, New York. A woman of various backgrounds and a passionate lover of new ventures in food, Chef Janice wanted to develop a dessert that would fit in with any and every occasion, event, or family gathering. Though many trials and tests proved delicious, none were so widely memorable or requested as her Cakies, homemade artisanal Twinkies known for their moist cake and melt-in-your mouth fillings. Cakies are thus a complex culmination of Janice's life experiences as told through a journey of diverse flavors.
