History

Jane E. Carleton, MA, GG has worked in the fine jewelry industry since 1984 after earning her graduate gemologist certification from the Gemological Institute of America. She specializes in diamonds, gemstones, jewelry design and the estate jewelry market, and has worked as an appraiser since 2006. She formerly worked with Nancy Stacy, of Jewels by Stacy Appraisals, as her appraisal assistant for many years, as well as worked freelance as an appraiser for fine jewelry stores. Jane opened her independent appraisal office in 2016 and is one of just a handful of independent appraisers in the Bay Area that are Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) compliant, which is required for any appraisal that is for legal purposes, and is also required by many insurance companies.
