Itliong Vera-Cruz Middle School

Established in 1973, Alvarado Middle School serves more than 1,150 students in grades six through eight. The school offers a range of academic programs in mathematics, science, language arts and social studies. It also maintains a school site council that participates in various school welfare-related activities. Alvarado Middle School has received the California Distinguished School Award and is a member of the California League of Middle Schools. It is a National Blue Ribbon School. The school also offers instructional services in foreign languages, music, and visual and performing arts. Alvarado Middle School s facilities include a gymnasium, locker room and media center. The school additionally maintains basketball courts and baseball fields. It offers English language development and school improvement programs. The school is governed by the New Haven Unified School District, which administers several elementary, middle and high schools.
