Founded in 1888 as an orphanage, Five Acres, The Boys' and Girls' Aid Society of Los Angeles County is one of the oldest, nonsectarian child abuse agencies in the San Gabriel Valley in California. The agency provides residential and mental health care services in homes and schools. It also offers foster care, adoption and domestic violence prevention services. The agency works with a team of more than 450 staff members and over 370 volunteers. The Pasadena Japanese Cultural Institute (PJCI) is a non-profit organization founded in 1962, dedicated to preserving and promoting Japanese culture and community in the greater Pasadena area.
