Sacramento's Department of Transportation has more than 330 employees and provides basic transportation services, including planning, construction and inspection, planning for future transportation needs, parking control and street maintenance. Its on- and off-street parking services include providing residential and commercial parking permits, parking laws enforcement, and maintaining and repairing parking meters. The department offers a wide variety of engineering services, such as traffic engineering, construction, inspection of civil and electrical designs, and project and funding development. Its street services include street and signage maintenance, pavement striping, repair of traffic signals and street lighting, median landscaping and concrete repairs.
