Founded in 1989, Hot Topic consists of two distinct specialty retail concepts: Hot Topic and Torrid. The company s Hot Topic brand targets young men and women between the ages of 12 and 22 who are passionate about rock music, pop culture and music-inspired fashion. Hot Topic stores are stocked with more than 20 different product categories, including Tee shirts, hats, posters, CDs, fashion accessories, pants, tops, dresses and shoes. The company s Torrid brand, founded in 2001, targets plus-size young women between the ages of 15 and 29. Torrid features fashion apparel and accessories that cover a wide variety of customer lifestyle needs, including casual dress, wear-to-work, club wear and Prom or other formalwear needs, as well as novelty Tee shirts, fashion tops, skirts, pants, jeans, jackets, dresses, outerwear, swimwear, intimate apparel, shoes, handbags, belts, jewelry and gifts. Hot Topic is headquartered in City of Industry, Calif., and operates more than 700 Hot Topic and Torrid retail outlets throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
