History
In 1975 this program was called SAM, or School Age Mothers and in 1980 the license-exempt child care component was added. The program became a CalSAFE provider from 2000-2015, as well as a partner program with CAPE Early Head Start. In 2017 the program became a fully licensed Infant Center with a Toddler option. The program now serves PUSD School Age Parents as well as the general public.
Specialties
Horizon Early Education Center has many options for a full or part-time week, PERFECT for working families and for parents with older children already in PUSD schools. Horizon offers low ratios, 1:4 for Infants and 1:6 for toddlers. We use DRDP Desired Results Developmental Profile and Ages & Stages screening tool to assure the children's curriculum meets their needs.
