Herbert Hoover High School is located in Glendale, Calif. It offers more than 20 advanced placement courses, including English literature and composition, biology, physics, chemistry, statistics, computer science, American history, psychology, French literature, calculus, studio art, music theory and American government. Its visual and performing arts department offers courses in art, ceramics, photography, dance, music and drama. Its business, engineering and technology academy provides classes in business technology, introduction to programming, desktop publishing, graphic arts, computer applications and introduction to business. The advancement via individual determination is a college preparatory program for students in the middle who are economically disadvantaged and underachieving. It offers sports activities, including cross country, tennis, golf, volleyball, cheerleading, field hockey, soccer and football. The school library has an online search engine to help in finding information.
