The Historic Kingsburg Depot, established in 1875 as part of the Southern Pacific Railroad, is a non-profit facility dedicated to preserving and educating the public about the history of the San Joaquin Valley Railroad Line. Since its restoration in 2016, the Depot has served as a living history program, welcoming thousands of students each year to engage with actors portraying historical figures from 1923.
In addition to its educational programs, the Depot also features a Freight House that can be utilized as an event venue. The Friends of the Historic Kingsburg Depot are currently working on Project 1238, which aims to relocate the 1918 SP Locomotive #1238 to the site for preservation and educational purposes, enhancing the historical context of this significant landmark.
