Place to stay it's close to the pier plenty of shops and bars and what not around public transportation is close by and have a great pool room decent breakfast bar good coffee and it's not bad...

In an unassuming building 2 blocks from Santa Monica beach and Pier, this colorful hostel is also 2.6 miles from Muscle Beach. Functional dorms include bunk beds, lockers and shared bathrooms. Private rooms are also available. Breakfast and Wi-Fi are free. There's also a colorful lounge with cable TV, a shared kitchen, and a game room with a pool table. Other amenities include a courtyard, laundry facilities and bike storage.

Stayed here for two nights. Honestly if you're looking for a hostel this one is it! I haven't been to any others in LA but I have some friends who have and it seems this is one of the better ones....
