Joe grew up on movie sets in Chicago, IL. His father is a Property Master and with Joe's talent and love for finish carpentry, he began working on movie sets, building and decorating with those hard to find unique items that only a movie would have. Him and his wife met in 2006, and with their mutual passion for all things vintage, and Joe's talent for finish carpentry, they knew they had the beginnings of something amazing. He continued to refine his skills as a finish carpenter, and she began searching for the great vintage finds we could repurpose or recreate. They opened Heirlooms and Hardware in 2011 at the age of 24. It began with beautiful antiques and custom-made furniture designed and crafted by Joe as well as custom jewelry designed by Joes mother. We have since grown and made it our mission to be a place to buy authentic, unique handcrafted goods. We sell light fixtures, journals, candles, skin care products, jewelry, accessories all. All designed and made by local artisans.
Heirlooms and Hardware is not only a place for customers to revel in gorgeous antique wares from Eastern Europe and across the US, but it is a coming together of the old and the new as we will also be showcasing trending, local designers from all over Southern California. These include but are not limited to repurposed canvas and leather bags, Voluspa natural coconut wax candles, Nieves organic skin care products, Luke Hobbs touch Edison lamps, and Terese Benzie vintage-esque jewelry. It is this blending of vintage and modern that draws our founder and creator Joe D' Ambra to design his own custom furnishings, which will also be a key feature of our shop. As rustic, reclaimed furniture has garnered more attention for homes and businesses, Joe has purposed to create on trend pieces with a keen eye and shrewd sensitivity, choosing to build with salvaged, reclaimed materials from America's forgotten structures. His designs are often collaborations with our customers, who enjoy becoming a part of the creative process and walk away with a one-of-a-kind piece true to their fancy. We desire to impart to our customers a rich history through the reclaimed resources in our handmade furniture, our unique artisan crafts, and carefully selected vintage novelties. In so doing, we can offer them something truly unique and entirely affordable. Our hope is to be the one-stop-shop for the lovers of all things vintage to accessorize, furnish, and beautify their unique daily lifestyle.
