The Headwaters Forest Reserve, encompassing 7,472 acres of coastal redwood forest, is home to some of the last undisturbed old-growth redwood stands in the world. Managed by the Bureau of Land Management in collaboration with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Reserve protects vital ecosystems that support several threatened species, including the marbled murrelet and northern spotted owl.
