Dog Gone Pretty

Hello and thank you for visiting our web site! My name is Melody Michel and I am the owner of Dog Gone Pretty. Let me take a moment to tell you about myself and our salon. I have been fortunate enough to be grooming for over 30 years. During that time, I have committed to learning & building on my skills as a groomer. I continually challenge myself by entering grooming competitions, routinely attending educational seminars, obedience training and competing with my own dogs as well as grooming and handling my own dogs in conformation shows are several of the multi-facetted ways I strive to improve upon my knowledge and abilities. I am a certified C.A.H (Companion Animal Hygienist) and was on the board of directors as well as Secretary for the Southern California Professional Groomers Association. Our salon also believes in helping pups who are not as fortunate as others and are still looking for their forever home. We have developed relationships with several rescue organizations over the years where we groom rescued pets so they can look their best in order to find their new families. My staff and I understand the value of education, compassion and love in caring for the four legged family members that we look after every day. It is a continual process to strive to learn more and that will never stop. Our feline friends are always welcome too! We understand the special requirements it can take to care for kitties in the grooming salon. Cats know they rule the roost and we are their wait staff. We do our best to serve them! They are always kept securely and safely away from our canine guests (or "droolers" as the cats love to call them!). We do everything possible to make the experience as peaceful and swift as possible so they can get back to their kingdom at home in which they are surely the supreme rulers! We also have a soft place in our hearts for our special needs kids. Whether it be the "problem child, " the kid who is under the weather or the more "mature" dog or kitty, we are highly skilled in catering to their special needs. Each issue demands its own expertise. We are very proud to offer the specialized care that these kids require. Winning over a fearful dog is an example of why we do what we do. Making an elderly pet with a chronic illness comfy and cozy (and spoiling them with a few extra treats if possible) makes our day. Giving a 3 month old, 5 pound bag of wiggles it's first bath makes us smile. Even though we are covered in as much shampoo as the puppy is! It's what we do and why we love it. Our salon offers nothing but the most gentle and natural shampoos, conditioners, medicated baths, hot oil treatments and finishing sprays for your pets. Grooming at Dog Gone Pretty is about more than creating just another pretty face. It's also about observing and noting any changes or problems your family member may be having. Skin issues are noted often. We are always ready to recommend what shampoos or treatments that would most benefit your little ones at home. We offer all the products we use for purchase in our salon and we are happy to give you any information you would like on how to use them. From brushing demonstrations when your furry friend is prone to having bad hair days, to recommending which shampoo suits your itchy Italian Greyhound, we can help! We double rinse every pet we bathe to make certain that no shampoo residue is left that may cause itching. We also keep your pets ear canals dry by using cotton balls to keep the water out. And as if that isn't enough, our Hot Oil Therapy is a specialty that we offer that is the Cadillac of skin and coat treatments. Firstly, your pet is bathed in our hypo-allergenic shampoo. Then, the specially formulated medicated shampoo is applied that soothes and indulges your pet in the most luxurious experience. Just when you think it can't get any better, it does! The next step is the moisturizing lotion that is massaged into the coat. The cherry on top is the combination o
