History

Hamhung nang myeon is an authentic food to east coast region of north korea. There is two types of nang myeon. First and most people known as mul nangmyeon is from west coast like pyong yang style That uses buckwheat for noodles, marsh land. Now ham hung is a city on east coast that can only grow potatoes, mountains. So the ham hung nang myeon is base on potato starch. Our noodles are more chewy. Some people think my nang myeon is awesome and yet other people think it's the worst. There is no middle ground even among the Koreans. The bi bim nangmyeon is typical hamhung style. We make most of our food from scratch and old fashion way. No added powder to enhance flavors nor make up the time of cooking. My father established the hamhung restaurant on September of 1985 at Ardmore Ave., then I took over the business when he retired on 1998. We have moved to our current location on Olympic and Harvard on March of 2011.
