Before there was a hotel, there was a saloon. In 1852, thousands of thirsty prospectors filled their glasses at the original Golden Gate Saloon. After Grass Valley was destroyed by a fire in 1855, the owners quickly adapted and sold whiskey and beer to loyal customers from a tent among the rubble the next day. A seamless flow from the bar to the dining room and outdoor patio offers our guests the perfect mix of food and drink. Enjoy a contemporary menu with the fresh flavors of California and a dash of Mexico, utilizing the bounty of our local and organic farms. The Golden Gate menu is updated seasonally.

Joni was great! Food was great. They charge for extra sauce and per soda but it is fine dining so can't complain too much. Ambiance was worth it.

I had to try before the Christmas market and when the hotel renovation was featured by Emily Henderson. Neither food nor decor disappointed (though we had to sit on the patio due to busyness)....
