Gavilan College, established in 1919, offers learning opportunities to students. The college provides classes in English, social science, chemistry, music, Spanish and art. It administers the English as a Second Language program. The college offers guidance counseling, financing and health care services. Gavilan College also provides programs in cosmetology, accounting, aviation maintenance technology and licensed vocational nursing. It has a library that offers access to a variety of books and reading materials. The college has an athletic department that provides participation opportunities for basketball, baseball, football and volleyball activities. In addition, it manages a bookstore and child development center. The college organizes several alumni activities and special events. Gavilan College is a part of the Gavilan Joint Community College District.
