The Frog Pond Wetland Preserve in Monterey, CA is a 17-acre local treasure that offers a unique arrangement of habitats, including frogs, deer, hummingbirds, and western fence lizards. It is considered one of the most biologically productive and ecologically important ecosystems, providing a refuge for resident and migratory wildlife as well as humans. The preserve aims to maintain and enhance its wildlife habitat value, while also allowing public access to experience and understand the values of open space.

As an isolated remnant of a larger ecosystem, the Frog Pond Wetland Preserve is dedicated to preserving its wetland habitat, which is under threat due to expanding urban and agricultural development. The preserve provides perimeter access to the central pond wetland habitat core, allowing visitors to enjoy nature study, education, recreation, and inspiration. With its diverse flora and fauna, including beautiful Coast Live Oak, Arroyo Willow, and Monterey Pine trees, as well as colorful Big Leaf Periwinkle, the Frog Pond Wetland Preserve offers a peaceful and educational experience for all.

Pretty trail to walk around the pond. Dog friendly, however watch for poison oak on trails.
