History

Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District, an independent special district, was formed in January 1962 under the State Public Resource Code of California. The birth of the District was approved by voters in the Camarillo community to provide quality programs, parks and facilities that can be enjoyed by everyone. Freedom Park was established in 1976.

Freedom Park was established in 1976 and features: 33.9 acres, gymnasium, BMX raceway, R/C track, roller hockey rink, classroom building, group picnic shelter, BBQs, horseshoe pits, restrooms, picnic tables, Freedom Center & meeting rooms. Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District maintains 28 parks in the Camarillo area. We invite you to check out each one and experience the different amenities that each one provides. Our parks feature: basketball courts, dog parks, fitness equipment, handball courts, hiking trails, horseshoe pits, open green space, BBQs, picnic tables, playground equipment, reservable picnic shelters, tennis courts, volleyball courts, skate park, walking track, pickleball courts, lighted sports fields, R/C track, Nature Center, BMX track, hockey rink, public restrooms & more.
