Frank Lai, MD, FACS, is a urologist who serves as co-medical director of Urology Care at El Camino Health. He specializes in minimally invasive laparoscopic, robotic and endoscopic procedures for a variety of urologic conditions, including complex stone disease, enlarged prostate (BPH) and kidney/bladder/prostate cancers. He has a special interest in the medical management and prevention of stone disease. When working with patients, Dr. Lai takes time to learn about who they are, what’s important to them and how their condition has impacted their life. He educates them about their condition and treatment options and partners with them to make decisions about their care. A highly trained physician, Dr. Lai studied biophysics at Johns Hopkins University and obtained his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School. He completed his urology residency at Stanford University and a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Lai joined the El Camino Health team in 2003 and previously served as the chief of surgery. He appreciates the collaborative multidisciplinary environment of El Camino Health and the access it provides to cutting-edge technology. Outside of work, Dr. Lai enjoys playing tennis and spending time with his family. He was born in Taiwan and raised in Chicago, and he is still an avid Cubs, Bears and Bulls fan.
