Forestry & Fire Protection

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection works to protect people, property and more than 30 million acres of wildland. It maintains a team of more than 15 employees that include directors, executives, officers and support staff. The department is equipped with fire engines, bulldozers, crew carrying and insect control vehicles, mobile kitchen units and trailers. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection s communications division provides information about watersheds, socio-economic conditions and forest-related climate changes. Established in 1905, the department responds to emergency calls and maintains a location in Fresno, Calif. Its fire academy offers training in the areas of law enforcement, fire protection, and resource and fire crew management.
