First Saturday Swing

History

First Saturday Swing is the portal and central hub for swing dancing in San Diego. Occurring once a month, it has been attracting new and returning dancers from all walks of life. Our goal is to bring the swing dance community together through First Saturday Swing, to know that they are part of our home no matter where they come from.

Specialties

First Saturday Swing opens once a month to offer four drop-in swing dance lessons and social dancing. We have more than three hours of both DJ and live music, ranging from 1920s-1950s era big band music. We dance lindy hop, balboa, shag, jazz, and other African American vernacular dance movements. For those who dance blues and fusion, we offer a separate room for slow and groovy nights, simultaneously. For parents with children, we offer a complimentary family room with a dedicated baby sitter so you guys can learn and dance without worry.
