Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department

The Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department, established in 1897, serves as the westernmost fire department in the contiguous United States, dedicated to the preservation and protection of life and property in Ferndale and its surrounding rural areas. Comprising three engine companies and one medical company, the department responds to over 200 fire and medical calls annually while actively engaging with the community through events and educational programs.

In addition to their emergency services, the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department hosts two annual blood donation days, provides free rides for children on fire engines during the Fourth of July, and decorates the town Christmas tree. The department is continually seeking new members who are interested in contributing to their community through a rewarding and impactful hobby.
