Yoga found me at a turning point in my life: finishing college and deciding my next steps. I immediately adjusted my trajectory toward the practice and study of Yoga and it has been the best gift to myself. Since my first 200hr training in 2001, I have been teaching all ages in various settings. I have taught children in the guatemala countryside, Mayan women living in a shelter, New Yorkers in the village, seniors, pregnant women, teenagers on backpacking trips, Waldorf students in Sonoma, beginners and fellow yoga teachers. in 2005, i trained as a doula and began attending births, putting my heart to work in a new way. in 2011, I helped launch and co-teach the first prenatal yoga teacher training in New York to fulfill the yoga alliance's new standards of 85 hours. after my new guru appeared in the form of my daughter, it was natural for me to combine my experience as a mother, doula and yoga teacher to serve young familes in my community.
Prenatal yoga classes are offered Tuesday evenings from 6:15-7:30pm, followed by tea service and the opportunity to share the experience of pregnancy in community. I am passionate about serving families in the childbearing years. I offer easeful yoga instruction that is individualized to each woman and appropriate for any level of experience and each trimester of pregnancy. I specialize in holding space for women to be as they are in their unique expression of pregnancy, be it glowing or grumpy or both! Come a little late, come if you really need a good practice, come if you just need to lie on the ground under an eye pillow, supported in comfort. Its all good. I am so grateful to be working with such a passionate team of educators at the Wisdom and Movement Center at Thrive Center for Birth and Family Wellness. The center is a beautiful community of inspired practitioners working together to serve pregnant families. Its a beautiful thing.
