The Dwight Crum Pier-to-Pier Swim, celebrating its 61st anniversary, is a renowned long-distance swimming event that attracts swimmers from across the United States. With 1350 participants completing the challenging two-mile course in 2023, this swim takes place in Manhattan Beach, CA, where swimmers start on the south side of the 10th Street Lifeguard Tower, swim around the Hermosa Beach Pier, parallel to the shore, and then round the Manhattan Beach Pier before finishing on the beach.
Swimmers who did not complete the previous year's swim must register online and pass a 500-meter check-out swim, held on specific dates in July. The swim is divided into three heats based on gender and swimwear, and participants can pick up their race packets the day before the event or on the morning of the race. Early arrival is recommended due to limited parking, and registration fees vary depending on the date of registration. No refunds, substitutes, or race day entries are allowed.
