Dr. Paul R. Brakeman, MD, PhD, is a renowned pediatric nephrologist and the Medical Director of the Pediatric Kidney Transplant Program at UCSF, specializing in the evaluation and treatment of pediatric dialysis and kidney transplant patients. His expertise extends to managing conditions such as recurrent urinary tract infections, chronic kidney disease, nephrotic syndrome, and obstructive nephropathy. Brakeman's research focuses on the engineering of renal epithelial cells for bioartificial kidneys and developing three-dimensional culture systems to study kidney toxicology and injury. He completed his medical degree and doctorate at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and has held various academic and clinical positions, earning board certifications in both pediatric nephrology and pediatrics.
