History

I began my education in Psychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1999. My passion for relational dynamics led me to pursue Marriage and Family Therapy as the emphasis for my MA degree (2005) and accredited Doctor of Psychology degree (2008) at Alliant International University. Through my extended training, I gained an in-depth knowledge of relational systems and worked with a variety of clients, including individuals, couples, families, children and adolescents struggling with issues such as relational/marital distress, depression, anxiety, anger, stress, feelings of low self-esteem, parenting, co-parenting, and divorce. In 2008 I fulfilled my dream of becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I opened my private practice. I have received advanced training in Couples Emotionally Focused Therapy, and have completed over 14 years of providing Couples Counseling, Marriage Therapy, Family Therapy, and Child and Adolescent Therapy.

Welcome! I'm Dr. Jodi Stanley, Psy.D., a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#45244) in San Diego. My specialties include Relationship Counseling, Couples Therapy, Marriage Therapy, Family Therapy, Parenting Therapy, and Child & Adolescent Counseling. I offer Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a short-term, highly effective approach aimed at recognizing and changing negative interaction patterns to create secure attachment bonds, increased awareness, improved communication of needs, and to overall live a life of greater meaning and success. I believe that therapy begins with a respectful and collaborative environment in which clients are empowered as the expert of their own lived experiences. Together, I work with clients to implement strategies that fit their personal needs. Overcoming life's challenges can be difficult and overwhelming, but there is hope and you are not alone. I am committed to helping my clients to live the life they love and deserve.
