Many people remember Dodge Ridge Ski Area as the place they learned to ski. Since its opening, Dodge Ridge remains a throwback to an on-snow experience that harkens back to a former era launched by exuberant outdoorsmen. There are few off-slope attractions. The resort remains more of a rarefied mountain outpost where people, bound by a collective independent spirit, happily rub shoulders and revel in the seductive vistas and beautiful wonder of nature. Dodge Ridge has a vertical drop of 1,600 feet, a base elevation of 6,600 feet and a summit elevation of 8,200 feet. It has 59 total runs and 8 lifts. Dodge Ridge is the closest winter resort to both San Francisco and the Central Valley. It is just 160 miles from San Francisco International Airport, in Pinecrest, Calif.
