Placer County Jail is a part of the Placer County Sheriff s Department, which is governed by the County of Placer in California. Founded in 1985, the jail is a detention facility that houses more than 450 inmates. It cells are double-bunked. The Placer County Sheriff s Department is responsible for organizing, establishing, maintaining and promoting various coordinated crime prevention and community-related events. The department s crime analysis division assists operational and administrative personnel in planning the deployment of resources for the prevention and suppression of criminal activities.
