Department of General Services, Division of the State Architect

The Division of the State Architect is located in Sacramento, Calif., and is administered by the State of California. It design and construction oversight services for community colleges and kindergarten through grade 12 schools. The division develops and maintains accessibility standards and codes that are utilized for the development of public and private buildings throughout California. The Division of the State Architect offers project review services for structural, fire and life safety parameters. Through Historical Building Safety Board, which is part of the division, it provides maintenance, repair, reconstruction, preservation, relocation and restoration services for various historical buildings. The division conducts regular public and council meetings and conducts construction-site inspection services to ensure masonry, architectural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing supplies.
