Meet Los Angeles Dentist Yury Geylikman DMD, DABFD-international expert in Aesthetic Dentistry, Orthodontics, TMJ and DentoFacial Orthopedics. Dr. Geylikman attended Moscow Medical Stomatological Institute in 1968-1974; Moscow Dental School in 1974-1979 and the University of Washington in 1989-1990. He is a Past Research Associate of the UW Dental School, Member of Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, Member of American Academy of Head, Neck and Facial Pain, Member of Federation Dentary International, Member of Academy for Sports Dentistry, Member of International Association of Orthodontic, Member of Mid-American Orthodontics Association, Member American Academy of Functional Orthodontics, Member of American-Russian Medical/Dental Association, Member of American College of Forensic Examiners, Diplomat of American Board of Forensic Dentistry.

Temporomandibular joint syndrome, also known as temporomandibular joint disorder or TMD, is a painful condition involving the joint that opens and closes the mouth. The temporomandibular joints are the small joints in front of each ear that attach the lower jaw (mandible) to the skull. The disorder may affect the jaw joint or the muscles surrounding it. Possible causes include: Excess tension in the jaw muscles Disturbed movement of the jaw joint Displacement or abnormal position of the jaw joint or cartilage disc inside the jaw joint Inflammatory process in the joint Excess or limited motion of the joint Injury of the jaw or face
