At St. Joseph Hospital, cancer care doesn’t end with cancer treatment. Our unique Cancer Wellness Program is dedicated to providing ongoing physical and emotional support services to improve our patients’ quality of life. Aligned with our values of compassion, dignity, justice, excellence and integrity, our program is free for patients with cancer who have completed active treatment or who are currently receiving long-term maintenance therapy.

Dr. Deepa Jeyakumar is a board-certified UCI Health hematologist-oncologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of blood cancers, bone marrow transplantation and stem-cell therapy. Her clinical focus is on treating patients with leukemias, lymphomas, myelodysplastic syndromes and myelomas. Jeyakumar earned her medical degree at Temple University’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. She completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago, followed by a fellowships in hematology/oncology at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Mass., and bone marrow transplantation at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif. She is the author or co-author of numerous publications, posters and abstracts, as well as a chapter on acute myelogenous leukemia in a leading book on care for cancer survivors.

When someone you love is experiencing a stroke and requires emergency care, it is reassuring to know that expert help is immediately available. Mission Stroke Center is committed to our community to diagnose, treat and manage patients suffering from a stroke. We have a Code Stroke Team designed to respond to stroke as an emergency; we have carefully developed evidence-based protocols and orders for transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke that are consistently updated based on the most current stroke research; we use thrombolytic or 'clot-busting' agents if indicated; and utilize the most current interventional procedures, such as mechanical clot retrieval systems and coiling for aneurysms.
