History

Owner & captain, Sam Shallow, was born and raised in Vermont where he spent his childhood fly fishing in the family pond. Tying flies and spending hours on the water's edge with his younger brother as a child solidified Sam's enthusiasm for fishing. Sam and his brother used glassblowing techniques to create a fishing lure unlike any one they had ever seen. The brothers took their newly fashioned lure to the local fishing hole, and within minutes they had hooked a fish. This was the start of Shallow Glass Lures, a glass-blown fishing lure company that has proven the test, and skeptics, of time. After 10 years of fishing Pyramid Lake, Sam had acquired a fishing log and angler knowledge that deserved to be put to professional use for other fishermen to enjoy. Upon completing a US Coast Guard Captains License course, Captain Sam was prepared to guide fishermen to their dream catch, a trophy Lahontan cutthroat trout!

Migratory birds depend on Pyramid Lake for resting and nesting, and one of the largest breeding colonies for the American White Pelican is located on the lake's Anaho island. In addition to the unique bird populations, Pyramid Lake is home to the All Tackle World Record cutthroat trout weighing in at 41lb. These monster lake trout make for a fun and exciting day of fishing.
