Dearborn Street Elementary School

Opened in 1965, Dearborn Elementary School is a Title 1 school that serves students in kindergarten through grade five. Its academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The school additionally provides instruction in theater, dance, visual arts and music. Dearborn Elementary School offers the School for Advanced Studies program, which receives funding from the Los Angeles Unified School District. It provides various special education services, including a resource specialist program, speech language development and occupational therapy. The school has a technology center that features more than 25 computers. Dearborn Elementary School offers a variety of after-school enrichment classes, including chess, cooking and tae kwon do. In addition, it has a parent-teacher association that organizes field trips, sponsors programs and generates funds for school improvement. The school is located in Northridge, Calif., and is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
