The barber shop originally opened in 1960 in a small building on the corner of Cypress, and Athens by a man named Johnny. In 1967 the construction of Cypress Square Shopping Center had been completed, and the barber shop moved into the building where it still sits today. That year also marked the change of owners when Johnny sold it to his nephew Ray, and it became Rays Barber Shop. Ray owned and operated the shop until 1992 when he retired. He sold it to DC, a barber that had worked here for a few years in the early 70's, and returned to work with Ray shortly before he retired.
