Curran Middle School

Established in 1977, Stockdale Christian School is an interdenominational ministry that serves students from more than 100 church fellowships. Stockdale Christian is approved by the Association of Christian Schools International and the Western Association of Christian Schools and Colleges. The programs offered include Christian training, reading, history, geography, science, handwriting, spelling, English, mathematics, sports and special academic services. It additionally offers computers, physical education, band, music, summer and extended day care, independent study and drama programs. Its Discovery Program utilizes techniques from the National Institute for Learning Disabilities and is designed to stimulate learning in areas where students experience difficulties. The long-term educational therapy is specifically designed for students who have been tested and diagnosed with specific learning disabilities. Its Endeavor Program is designed to assist students in reading by teaching phonemic awareness. This program uses the Lindamood-Bell techniques for teaching phonemic sequencing. Valley Oaks Charter School provides enrichment sessions to provide classroom instruction and group activities for students. It serves students in kindergarten through grade eight. The school also offers classes in English, science, history, physical education and foreign languages. Valley Oaks Charter School also operates elementary and high schools. In addition, it organizes field trips and special events, including camps and special classes. The school is chartered by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office and is accredited by the Schools Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
