Since its inception, the Council has aimed to enhance the quality of life in the region through various arts and cultural programs, in alignment with the National Endowment for the Arts' vision.

Through collaborations with supporters and partners, the Council has been instrumental in providing access to high-quality arts initiatives for residents across the county. By strengthening the capacity of arts organizations and influencing community leaders to integrate the arts into their strategies, Arts4MC plays a vital role in fostering a vibrant cultural landscape in Monterey County.

With a strong focus on arts education, the Council impacts over 25,000 youth, seniors, and veterans annually, supported by a network of local PTAs, foundations, and businesses. Additionally, Arts4MC offers essential support to more than 100 arts and cultural organizations, thanks to funding from the County of Monterey Board of Supervisors and grants from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. Committed to making Monterey County a thriving hub of creativity, Arts Council for Monterey County continues to receive recognition for its contributions from various stakeholders.

One critic recently wrote of EMCO's performance of Composer-in-Residence Stephen Tosh's Covenant of Light in Carmel's Sunset Center, "We are very lucky on the Central Coast to be able to enjoy the collaborative excellence and professional talent of Ensemble Monterey, Cantiamo and Stephen Tosh." [ Barbara Rose Schuler, The Monterey Herald ]. Another critic recently wrote, "Ensemble Monterey, John Anderson's elite chamber orchestra from around the Monterey Bay, is a well-kept secret in Santa Cruz. But it deserves to be told." [ Phyllis Rosenblum, Santa Cruz Sentinel ].The musicians of Ensemble Monterey Chamber Orchestra are recognized area professionals and include Principal Chairs of Monterey Symphony, Santa Cruz County Symphony and other Monterey Bay and San Francisco Bay area professional music organizations.
