Creative Kids Youth Theater Project

History

The Creative Kids Youth Theater Project evolved from Creative Kids, a popular arts enrichment center for children in West L.A. From 1996-2002, we ran our program in a small black box theater. In 2003 (in search of more space) we moved our program to the Nora Sterry School theater. This allowed us the performance and audience space we needed, and began an incredible relationship with our local school. Since we began teaching musical theater, we have produced more than 150 musicals, and have taught nearly 2000 students in the Los Angeles area.

Specialties

Creative Kids Youth Theater Project offers Musical Theater Workshop classes for children ages 5-18. Each session, we bring a known musical to life, while learning the steps and the process of creating a work of art as a group. Our students go through the process of casting, reading, blocking, working, polishing and performing their masterpiece. They also learn about production- utilizing sets, costumes, lighting, microphones, sound and music to complete the production. At the Creative Kids Youth Theater Project, our mission is to ignite the creative passion in each child, while establishing a foundation in values and teamwork. Our programs are founded in the basic fundamentals of: - Confidence - Respect - Trust - Responsibility (Trustworthiness) Through these values, our students learn how to function in a theater company, and gain the skills to become confident performers.
