History

In May 1893, voters living within an area carved from San Bernardino County and San Diego County approved formation of Riverside County. On May 9, 1893, the county officially formed and began charting a course under its newly elected Board of Supervisors. The county's early years were linked to agriculture but commerce, construction, manufacturing, transportation and tourism soon took hold, contributing substantially to the region's rapid growth.

Inglewood Police Department

The Inglewood Police Department employs more than 200 sworn personnel and nearly 130 civilian support staff members. The department consists of multiple resources, such as specially trained canines, enforcement units, forensics, investigators, a bike team, public relations, fiscal services, recruitment, vice and narcotics. It investigates crimes against persons, homicide, robbery, assaults, forgery, automobile theft, real estate fraud and economic crimes. The Inglewood Police Department has a gang intelligence unit, motor section, traffic enforcement group and community affairs section. The department has operated since 1908. It is based in Inglewood, Calif.
