History
The Conejo Valley Youth Orchestra was founded in 1961 by Betty Bowen, at California Lutheran University, Thousand Oaks, California. Our program continues to develop and enhance the music education of local students and to provide symphonic orchestral music experience as a supplement to music education in the schools. For the past 14 years the Conejo Valley Youth Orchestra has performed twice a year at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, Fred Kavli Theatre in Thousand Oaks, CA.
Specialties
CVYO is home to three orchestras, a brass quintet and percussion ensemble. 250 students ranging from ages 5-21! Rehearsals are held weekly on Thursdays in Westlake Village, CA. Auditions are in July and August. Check www.cvyo.org for updated audition information after June 15th. CVYO was selected by the Ventura County Arts Council for the 2014 Arts Stars Award-Nonprofit organization serving the community.
