Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse

CORA is a multicultural agency that offers a range of support services for the victims and survivors of domestic violence and abuse. It provides violence prevention, intervention, emergency shelter, transitional housing, legal, volunteering, and individual and group counseling services for the residents of San Mateo County, Calif. The agency administers the Emergency Response Program, which includes emergency crisis, critical incidence response and advocacy services in collaboration with police departments. CORA has a 24-hour help line that offers support through a counselor. Its transitional housing services feature individual case management, child care, referral, and emergency food and clothing assistance. The agency conducts a community education and outreach program that includes educational workshops for teenagers, adults, youth organizations, community groups and juvenile institutions on the dynamics of domestic violence.
