In the spirit of Bayanihan, the vision of Filipino Advocates for Justice is to foster a Filipino community with the power to advance social and economic justice, and to realize democratic and human rights for everyone. Our mission is to build a strong and empowered Filipino community by organizing constituents, developing leaders, providing services, and advocating for policies that promote social and economic justice and equity for all. Filipino Advocates for Justice, formerly Filipinos for Affirmative Action, was established in 1973 in response to the discrimination and alienation faced by the influx of immigrant newcomers from the Philippines. Our work is grounded in the spirit of Bayanihan ( people helping people ). Over the years we have been an advocate for immigrant and civil rights for the Filipino community and served the more vulnerable in our community by helping recent arrivals, youth and low wage workers navigate the challenges and hurdles of life in the US. Asian Community Mental Health Services, located in Oakland, Calif., offers a wide range of psychiatric care and medical treatments for people suffering from developmental disabilities. The center provides various services, such as case management, parent support, consultation and community integration services. It provides case management services that include residential day and employment programs, special education services and rehabilitation options. The organization also organizes consultation programs through which it educates and trains other community agencies on outreach, referrals and family support programs. It additionally offers community integration programs that include community awareness, socialization and independent living skills education. The center provides training in basic life skills, including counting money and cooking.

Asian Immigrant Women Advocates (AIWA) is dedicated to empowering low-income, limited English-speaking immigrant women and youth by fostering their social participation and collaboration with other marginalized communities. Through their Community Transformational Organizing Strategy, AIWA employs a comprehensive seven-step methodology to develop grassroots leadership and advocate for meaningful change. The organization also runs the Youth Building Immigrant Power project, which focuses on student-led initiatives in high schools aimed at transformation and empowerment. Additionally, AIWA's work is highlighted in the documentary film "Becoming Ourselves," which showcases the collective leadership development of immigrant women and youth in their fight for rights and social justice.
